East Texas Triathletes

As far as facilities, Longview has a few fitness centers.

Parke Way Fitness - www.parkewayfitness.com -

Parke Way is a great "family" facility.  They do have a great child care facility for members, great fitness classes, and a decent weight room.  They do have an outdoor pool open during the summer.

During the winter, you can pay a small fee ($18) to get access to an indoor pool in the area - the Paula Martin Jones Center.    This pool is really the best pool for lap swimming for training purposes in Longview.

If you don't need the family facilities...a less expensive gym is Elite Gym.  They do not offer a lot of fitness classes, or have a nursery, but if you don't need those things, you may like this gym better.  It is dubbed more "hardcore' as it is weights and some cardio equipment only.

Two other local gyms are Courthouse - they have an outdoor pool - and Physical Impact - they do not.

Regarding cycling - there is only one local bike shop in Longview - Wooley G's -

The manager/owner is a very knowledgeable and friendly man.

There is also a cycle club -

The local running club which has runs once a month - usually a 5K.
